Original created using Prismacolor markers and colored pencils and acrylic markers on drawing paper from a sketchbook my Grandma Janet, who was an incredible artist, used for drawing practice in preparation for paintings. After she passed away, I brought some of her art and supplies home to have close to me and connect to. She left some pages blank in this sketchbook and I felt compelled to get back into drawing while replaying countless conversations we had about our successes, failures, and lessons learned from our creative endeavors and our life experiences. I decided to honor her strength, her support and cultivation of my artistic spirit and connection to nature, and the light of hope and love she imparted to so many people’s lives by creating the Grandma’s Sketchbook series.
